For 2023, the all-new Honda HR-V debuts a clean, sporty, and expressive exterior design with a bold new grille, longer hood, and sleek roofline. The HR-V is larger than its predecessor, with a longer wheelbase and wider stance, while remaining sporty and personal. It is based on the award-winning 11th generation Honda Civic.
The HR-V is the ideal size for an adventurous weekend getaway, with enough space and utility to navigate city streets. HR-V, which will go on sale this summer, will have a more responsive engine and a new independent rear suspension, giving the compact SUV a more confident, refined, and fun-to-drive personality.
"By gaining aspirational qualities beyond its segment, the all-new 2023 Honda HR-V will welcome a new generation of customers to Honda and grow in importance as a gateway to the Honda brand," said Michael Kistemaker, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.'s assistant vice president of Automobile Sales.
"With this new HR-V, Honda will cement its position as the segment leader among young buyers, first-time buyers, and multicultural customers."
HR-V's design is ambitious and filled with a strong sense of adventure, inspired by the thrill of new experiences. A low horizontal beltline that begins with the extended hood and continues over the swell of the rear fenders adds motion to the flowing forms.
The HR-V's athletic stance is emphasized by its wide-set LED headlights and taillights. Its sporty proportions are highlighted by a sculpted hatch and a functional tailgate spoiler.
A large greenhouse provides excellent visibility, which is aided by door-mounted mirrors and the low cowl on the HR-V. Laser-brazing technology eliminates the need for unsightly roof moldings for a cleaner, upscale appearance, and the windshield wipers of the HR-V hide beneath the hood line when not in use.
Honda claims that the HR-V will have a more responsive powertrain; both the new Civic's 158 hp 2.0-liter and 180 hp 1.5-liter engines would fit the bill. It should also handle better due to its increased length and width, as well as the addition of an independent rear suspension.
