Lincoln set to release electric concept SUV

On April 20, an electric Lincoln concept vehicle will be unveiled, and Lincoln is giving us a sneak peek of what to expect today.

"The global concept serves as inspiration for our fully electric Lincoln vehicles coming in the near future," Lincoln says.

As a result, expect to see elements from this concept car used in production vehicles later this decade. As of now, the teaser's main theme is light. Lincoln uses LED lighting technology throughout the vehicle, including the roof, hood, and fenders.

This lighting is unlikely to make it into a production vehicle, but it does provide insight into Lincoln's design thinking. Clearly, light will be crucial.

Where the light makes more sense is in the concept's light-up Lincoln badges. The massive light-up badge in front, the smaller light-up badge on the side, and the "Lincoln" spelled out in light-up letters on the back are all visible.

It's also worth noting that this concept is similar to an SUV. We can see very little of the actual design, but it's no surprise that Lincoln is drawing inspiration for its future EVs from the SUV body style.

Then there's the grille/front of the car, which appears to be a large and mostly empty expanse of space.

The majority of the detailing is just a preview, so we'll have to wait until April 20 to see what Lincoln has in store for us.
