Elon Musk Confirms This 9,000-Ton Giga Press Will Build Tesla’s Cybertruck

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc, said on Tuesday that the electric car maker's much-anticipated light-duty Cybertruck will be constructed on a new 9,000-ton Giga Press developed by die casting company Idra Group.

The billionaire entrepreneur was replying to a video of a new 9,000-ton Giga Press being constructed on Twitter.

Musk responded to the article, stating that the Cybertruck body will be manufactured using the new Giga Press. The world's richest man did not elaborate on whether the machine will construct the vehicle's underbody or top body.

Idra Group is a subsidiary of Tesla supplier and Hong Kong-listed LK Technology, and it has worked on Tesla's casting technology.

Tesla has made significant investments in casting and alloy technologies, employing a succession of large die casting machines to produce vehicle bodywork from a few enormous casted sections, a concept that is increasingly gaining on in the auto industry.

The Giga Press is Tesla's most recent manufacturing breakthrough, and it is utilized to create the Model Y. The method lowers the front and back castings of the Model Y from hundreds of components to just two.
