2023 BMW 7 Series And i7 EV Revealed

The all-new BMW 7-Series flagship luxury sedan arrives in 2023 with a massive 31-inch rear screen and an electric i7 variant.

The new 7 Series sedan, which is based on the CLAR platform, has been extended by 130mm and widened by 48mm.

The redesigned range-topper is available in four variants: gasoline (petrol), diesel, plug-in hybrid, and the first-ever electric variant.

The 2023 7 Series will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2022, with a starting MSRP of $93,300 for the 2023 BMW 740i.

The new EV uses BMW's fifth-generation eDrive system, which is currently found in the iX electric luxury SUV. It is built on BMW's adaptable CLAR platform, which is already used for the iX and i4 electric saloons, as well as ICE models such as the latest 2 Series Coupé.

The EV employs two electric motors and a single battery pack with a total energy capacity of 101.7 kilowatt-hours to produce a combined output of 536 hp and 549 lb-ft. That means the i7 can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. Meanwhile, the number of gas-powered models is limited to 155.

The i7 can charge at a rate of up to 195.0 kilowatts on a DC fast charging station, allowing it to recoup 80 miles of range in ten minutes.

Inside, the 7 Series features the most recent version of BMW's Live Cockpit Plus, as well as the most recent iDrive 8 software. The new Curved Display, a single continuous piece of glass that houses two plus-sized screens: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen, is front and center. A new Interaction Bar, exclusive to the 7, has a crystalline surface with touch-capacitive controls for functions such as ventilation and climate control.

An optional 31.3-inch, 8K Theater Screen display sits between the front two seats in the back, providing rear passengers with access to built-in Amazon Fire TV and other online services. Each rear passenger can operate the screen by touching it or by using two 5.5-inch tablets mounted within the door panels.
