Brabus 900 Crawler Is an AMG G63 desert machine with 888 horsepower

German tuner, Brabus has transformed the Mercedes-Benz G-Class into the 900 Crawler, an off-road desert racer.

The front end of the Brabus 900 Crawler appears recognizable, but everything behind it is more sand rail than luxury SUV. Brabus designed its own steel tube-frame chassis and open four-seat carbon fiber bodywork. The fenders were enlarged to accommodate enormous off-road tires placed on 20-inch monoblock forged wheels.

According to Brabus, portal axles have a ground clearance of 20.9 inches. The 900 Crawler features independent front suspension and a rear beam axle, as well as adjustable shocks and up to 6.3 inches of spring travel.

The engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.5-liter V-8 with 888 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, as well as a four-wheel-drive system with locking differentials.

Brabus believes the V-8 will accelerate the 4,553-pound Crawler from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. The peak speed, however, is automatically limited to 100 mph because to the off-road tires.

The driver and passengers are strapped into four-point harnessed carbon fiber racing seats. Silvertex cloth from Brabus-developed high-performance boats is used to cover the seats. According to Brabus, the material is resistant to fading in sunshine, which is an essential issue in the desert.

The interior and integrated roll cage are both bright red, and the internal switchgear is also red anodized. The Crawler also contains an intercom system that connects to four Brabus helmets and other headsets, as well as a roof-mounted intake that directs air to the back seats.

At current conversion rates, pricing begins at $790,000 USD. It should be noted that the 900 Crawler is not road legal. The production run will be restricted to 15 pieces, with the first five arriving later this year. Brabus intends to deploy five further units in 2023, followed by the remaining five in 2024.
