Renault 'Scenic Vision' is a hydrogen-powered electric vehicle with 800km range

As the battle to greener driving continues, Renault has shown a prototype for a car powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell.

The French company stated that the 'Scenic Vision' SUV will not be commercially available until at least 2030, but that an electric version would be ready in 2024.

The electric motor of the fuel cell car is fueled by hydrogen, which extends the battery's range.

Renault claims that a 16kW fuel cell may increase the range to 800km before needing to be recharged.

According to Renault, fuel cell batteries are twice as light as standard electric cell batteries, resulting in a 75% decrease in carbon footprint.

The car is being released as part of Renault's ambition to separate its electric and combustion engine divisions.
