Hyundai develops a walking car robot that can progress on any terrain

Hyundai unveiled a concept called Elevate in 2019 that drew notice at the time: a vehicle with foldable and movable robotic legs that are also equipped with tires, allowing it to progress on virtually any sort of terrain.

In 2021, the South Korean firm unveiled TIGER, a concept vehicle with features similar to the Elevate but geared to transport equipment rather than passengers, as well as the ability to be coupled to a module with blades that would allow it to fly.

Hyundai said in a statement that it has established a laboratory within Montana State University (MSU) in the city of Bozeman to enhance the development of technology and make cars a reality. The corporation intends to invest $20 million in the initiative and hire 50 researchers.

Through a statement, Hyundai announced that it has opened a laboratory within the Montana State University (MSU) , located in the city of Bozeman, to advance the development of technology and make vehicles a reality. The company plans to invest $20 million and employ 50 researchers for the project.

Although they may appear bizarre and out of a science fiction film, vehicles like as the Elevate and TIGER might serve critical roles in rescue efforts in treacherous terrain or during natural catastrophes, as well as in future space expeditions to Mars or the moon.

These videos demonstrate how the prototypes function.
