Lamborghini Squadra Corse Introduces the Huracán GT3 EVO2 Racecar

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has revealed its third-generation Huracán for GT3. This latest version of the Huracán STO platform improves aerodynamics, intake, and safety.

This rear-wheel-drive-only race vehicle shares a naturally aspirated V10 engine — air is channeled in by 10 electronically driven throttle bodies — with the STO, which generates around 640 horsepower and meets the new FIA 2022 standards. A new hexagonal air scoop intake with fin replaces the old side air intakes in the aero department, while carbon fiber Centro Stile bodywork in the shape of splitters, diffuser, and underbody complete out the aerodynamics.

A new roll cage with two rear pillars and carbon-kevlar honeycomb side panels enhances impact resistance to meet safety rules – the racing vehicle has higher structural stiffness and dependability all around. Squadra Corse has also improved braking performance with new calipers and pads that operate with TCS and ABS.

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport, commented: “The new Huracán GT3 EVO2 is not simply an evolution of the current car. It’s a new project that reinforces the technological transfer between Lamborghini’s motorsport division and the company and inherits two difficult tasks: to prove as successful as the previous generations of Huracán GT3, which have won more than 40 international titles in six seasons, and to match its commercial success by helping to reach the target of 500 Huracán racing cars since 2015.”

The Huracán GT3 EVO2's whole titanium valve system is fastened to the engine with only four screws to speed up maintenance times. Those who want to see the car in action will have to wait until the second half of this year, with a track debut scheduled for the Daytona 24 Hours in 2023.
